Guwahati: Governor K.T Parnaik met Vice President of India Chandrapuram Ponnusami Radhakrishnan in New Delhi on Wednesday to discuss security concerns in the northern states, with a special focus on Arunachal Pradesh.

During the meeting, the Governor also updated the Vice President on the progress made in education, healthcare, and social welfare initiatives in the state.

He provided an overview of Arunachal Pradesh’s steady and inclusive development, noting the government’s commitment to the national vision of Viksit Bharat through a people-centered plan called Viksit Arunachal.

“The focus is on balanced growth, improved connectivity, human development, and equal opportunities for all sections of society,” he said.

Parnaik highlighted the vibrant spirit of the state’s youth, noting their increasing involvement in entrepreneurship, their respect for arts and culture, and their strong sense of nationalism.

He said that the energy, creativity, and discipline of young people are emerging as major drivers of Arunachal Pradesh’s transformation and future leadership.

The Governor presented the Vice President with a copy of Orchids of Arunachal Pradesh, a detailed and visually rich reference book that showcases the state’s diverse orchid species, many of which are rare, endemic, and globally significant.

The gift symbolizes Arunachal Pradesh’s commitment to preserving its natural heritage and promoting ecological stewardship. Parnaik also invited the Vice President to visit the state, and he accepted the invitation.

Later, the Governor met Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan to discuss national security matters, particularly concerning Arunachal Pradesh.

Key topics included the Vibrant Border Village Programme, the Agnipath scheme, and implementation of Sadbhavana projects in border areas.

During the discussion, Parnaik stressed the potential of Arunachal Pradesh’s youth and the need to provide them with more opportunities to join the armed forces.

He noted that such involvement would enhance national security while empowering young people through skill development, discipline, and service to the nation.

The Governor also appreciated the collaboration between the state government and the armed forces in advancing development in frontier villages, ensuring growth and security go hand in hand.

He stressed the significance of theatre commands and the continued strengthening of India’s operational and combat capabilities.
