Guwahati: Arunachal Pradesh received strong support from the North Eastern Council (NEC) last year, with funding to improve healthcare, roads, tourism, and livelihoods.
In December 2025, the NEC allocated Rs 4.24 crore for key projects, including a nursing hostel at the district hospital in Yingkiong (Upper Siang), a maternity and child care centre at Miao (Changlang), and the development of the Tissa viewpoint near Tissa Camp (Tirap).
These initiatives aim to strengthen healthcare services while promoting tourism in the region.
To boost connectivity, the NEC released Rs 13.50 crore under the NESIDSโRoads scheme for important road projects. This includes the 21-km Murung GikaโPanior road in Papum Pare district and the Bana EACโRichukrong road in East Kameng.
These upgrades are expected to benefit approximately 19,500 people across 15 villages by improving access to remote and administrative areas.
A Rs 2.60-crore livelihood project supported returning migrant workers by providing skill development and self-employment opportunities. This initiative helps residents earn sustainable income locally, reducing distress migration and strengthening the post-pandemic economy.
In the education and youth sector, Arunachal students participated in the NE-SPARKS programme, visiting Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) centres in Bengaluru.
The programme exposes students to Indiaโs space science ecosystem, encouraging STEM education and careers in science and technology.
In December 2025, the NEC disbursed a total of Rs 76.78 crore across the Northeast to support infrastructure, education, livelihoods, culture, research, and innovation.
The Centreโs funding aims to support inclusive development and promote balanced growth across Arunachal Pradesh and the Northeast.
