Arunachal Pradesh deputy chief minister Chowna Mein on Friday expressed sorrow on the demise on Chau Nandia Khen- a stalwart of Pali literature.

In a tweet, Mein wrote, “I am deeply saddened to learn of the demise of Chau Nandia Khen one of the 1st Pali Teacher fm Tai Khamti Society.”

“He was expertise in Pali language & work relentlessly for the promotion & preservation of Pali literature. My deep condolences to the bereaved family members,” he added.

Khen died at his Namsai residence on Thursday morning after a prolonged illness.

His death was also mourned by the Theravada Buddhist Society (TBS).

TBS chairman CD Mungyak said, “TBS lost one of the dedicated and devoted persons in his death.”

“He would be always remembered for his invaluable contributions. May his departed soul rest in eternal peace,” Mungyak added.
