Chi Lupo, a short documentary from Arunachal Pradesh won the best documentary award at the Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival 2020.

The documentary depicts the custom of honey hunting among the Sherdukpen community of West Kameng district.

The Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival 2020 awards were announced on Thursday in New Delhi amid the nationwide lockdown.

The documentary is made by independent filmmaker Kezang D Thongdok.

Chi means honey and Lupo means hunter in the Sherdukpen community, where honey is used for preparing delicacies and is valued for its medicinal properties.

Thongdok is a resident of Rupa in West Kameng district and this is his first documentary, even though he has earlier worked as a crewmember in several regional films.

He has also acted and edited in the Sherdukpen movie ‘Besmeh’.
