The swab sample of the lone COVID-19 positive man in Aruanchal Pradesh has been found to be negative twice after the third and fourth tests, taking the number of positive cases in the state to zero.

Chief minister Pema Khandu who took to Twitter to inform the same said, “The first positive case of Arunachal Pradesh has tested negative (twice) after conducting 3rd & 4th test consecutive. The #Covid_19 Positive case in Arunachal Pradesh is now ‘0’.”

The man, who is not an Arunachalee but resides in the Medo area of Lohit district has tested positive for COVID-19 on April 1 and 7 last after conducting two tests, making him the first person from the State to be infected with the virus.

The man had a history of attending a religious congregation in Delhi’s Nizamuddin.

His swab sample was, however, found to be negative after the third and fourths tests which were conducted at Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC) at Dibrugarh in Assam on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.

A person who has tested positive will need to test negative twice in order to be discharged, according to the government’s ‘Containment Plan’ for COVID-19.

These two negative results must come from tests conducted consecutively at a 24-hour interval.
