The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Monday condemned the government for the poor road conditions in the state.
“The roads need immediate attention from the government. The maintenance and restoration of the damaged road and construction of highway with proper drainages should continue,” APCC vice-president Techi Tegi Tara said.
Tara said the state has been troubled by increasing cases of Covid-19, economic crisis and natural disaster.
“The state government must use its machinery to resolve this prolonged miserable road condition. NH-415 (Itananagar-Naharlagun) and Doimukh-Potin, Kurung Kumey, Upper Subansiri roads are in pathetic condition leading to increase in road accidents, price rise of essential commodities, damage of vehicles, traffic congestion, inaccessibility of healthcare, poor transport due unpredictable road closures, potholes, poorly concreted speed-breakers and drainage system,” he said.
The APCC also condemned the government for poor enforcement and turning a blind eye to the district administration and departments concerned for not maintaining the standards for building and maintenance of roads.
The APCC underlined the importance of roads at the time of pandemic.
“The government must accelerate the construction of roads when there is no mass movement,” it added.
