Guwahati: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu visited Riga village in Siang district on Tuesday, April 14, where he unveiled and dedicated projects worth Rs 196.44 crore to improve basic facilities and civic amenities in the area.

The projects cover sectors such as roads, education, government facilities and public services. Officials said the aim is to improve conditions in remote parts of the district that lack basic amenities.

Addressing a gathering, Khandu announced plans to upgrade roads in Riga, construct a circuit house and build a stadium for the district. He said the government is focused on ensuring development reaches remote areas.

He also laid the foundation for several projects, including staff quarters, a community hall at New Hiram, a womenโ€™s police station at Pangin and a cultural hall at Pegging Botte.

In the education sector, the projects include construction of hostels, classrooms, academic and administrative buildings, and staff quarters at schools in Pangin and Boleng. Facilities such as boundary walls, assembly sheds, toilets and mid-day meal infrastructure are also included.

Road projects include improvement of town roads in Boleng and Pangin under a state scheme, construction of the Yibukโ€“Lising road in its first phase, and development of staff quarters and campus facilities at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Awasiya Vidyalaya in Rottung. In addition, 100-bed hostels are being built under a government scheme across districts.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated completed projects, including an Industrial Training Institute at Pangin, a double-lane concrete road linking BRTF Rengo Road to the district hospital in Boleng, a Bailey bridge over the Subbung river on the Dosingโ€“Parengโ€“Yibuk route, and a fire station at Boleng.

Khandu urged officials to ensure proper coordination between departments so that the results of these projects reach people on time.
