Guwahati: A Rs 7,834 crore investment programme covering the 2026-29 period has been announced by Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu, with roads, rural connectivity and other key infrastructure among the areas covered.
Khandu made the announcement during the 80th Independence Day celebrations at Indira Gandhi Park, where he hoisted the national flag and spoke about the need to make infrastructure better prepared for disasters following the recent floods and landslides.
He said the government would work towards providing communities across the state with infrastructure that is safer, stronger and more capable of withstanding future disasters.
The chief minister also remembered people who lost their lives in the recent disasters in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Nagaland and expressed his condolences to their families.
He praised local residents, district administrations, security personnel, disaster response teams, healthcare workers and volunteers for helping deal with the situation.
In his Independence Day address, Khandu said peace was essential for long-term development and extended his greetings to the people of Arunachal Pradesh.
The chief minister also urged people to use technology responsibly, warning them not to let digital platforms influence or mislead them. He said the government would continue working to create stronger opportunities within the state.
Khandu urged people to use their freedom responsibly and contribute to a stronger, peaceful and united Arunachal Pradesh.
