The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has served notice to the Arunachal Pradesh government to clear an outstanding property tax amounting to Rs 5,30,331 within a week for the Arunachal Bhawan in Mumbai.

In the notice issued to the Director of Industries, Government of Arunachal Pradesh on February 24, the NMMC stated that the second floor of the guest house, may either be sold through public auction or file a suit against the defaulter, if the outstanding amount is not cleared within the stipulated time period.

Notably the guest house hosts several cancer patients from the north-eastern state and their relatives undergoing treatment in the financial capital of the country.

Further, the NMMC authority it is learnt has told the occupants about the possible situation they may face, in case the dues were not cleared on time.

This has created much panic among the patients as it will be difficult for them to find an alternative place within their budget.

According to reports, there are around 18 cancer patients from the state who are lodged in the guest house.

Ironically the Arunachal government has no official to take care of the guest house in Mumbai.
