The Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) has taken an exemplary move to suspend internet service during the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Combined Competitive Examination (APPSCCE) 2018 across the State.
The unprecedented move has been initiated to ensure free and fair conduct of the APPSCCE, the commission has stated.
It is an attempt at checking use of unfair means through smart phones during the examination.
However, suspension of internet service would be applied only at the APPSCCE centres, like Bomdila, Seppa, Itanagar, Ziro, Aalo, Basar, Pasighat, Tezu, Namsai, Khonsa, Jairampur, etc.
Meanwhile, the deputy commissioners of the district headquarters where the examinations will be held have been intimated in this regard.
Earlier the commissioner had decided to install jammers but the idea had to be dropped because of insufficient number of jammers and the ineffectiveness of the mechanism to check the leaking out of question papers.
The commission has appealed to all to cooperate for smooth and fair conduct of the examinations.
However, many feel suspension of internet service would affect on-line works especially in banking sector.
