Arunachal: App launched to help skilled people find livelihood opportunities

East Siang deputy commissioner Dr Kinny Singh on Friday launched the official mobile app of Pasighat Smart City, an android app which has been developed to help skilled people connect with their customers.

Terming the app as a great platform to create livelihood opportunities, the DC said the skilled people of Pasighat can now provide doorstep services such as plumbing, mobile and TV repairing, electrical, catering etc to the customers through the application.

“Such services will particularly benefit those who do not have established shops and carry out freelancing services. The need for doorstep services was also felt during the lockdowns,” the DC said.

The centurion town of Pasighat is the only other town besides Arunachal Pradesh’s capital Itanagar to figure in the Central government’s Smart City Mission.

It is the headquarters of East Siang district, located around 264 km away from Itanagar. Situated at 155 meters above sea level, it is one of the oldest towns of the state.

Noting that around 125 persons have already registered themselves in the app free of cost, the DC asked the officers and officials concerned to create more awareness on the same.

The officials were also asked to carry out a skill survey of every household in the township.

Designed and developed by one Wangsun Hakhun, the app is initiative of Pasighat Smart City Development Corporation Ltd (PSCDCL), Pasighat Municipal Corporation (PMC) and DC Singh to help the job seekers (freelancers) connect with their customers.

The app, at preset can be downloaded from www.smartcitypasighat.in and it would be available for download from the Google Play within a couple of weeks.

Also present to witness the app launch were PSCDCL chief executive officer Sukhvinder Singh, PMC executive engineer Kipa Gagung and his PWD counterpart Tani Taki.
