Guwahati: Following the Arunachal Pradesh government’s order for re-verification of land compensation for the Lada–Sarli Frontier Highway (Packages I–V), the All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) on Friday called off its planned bandh, which was to be enforced after a 15-day ultimatum.

ANYA president Jamru Ruja, speaking at a press conference at the APC, welcomed the government’s decision and stressed that the re-verification process must be completed within a fixed timeframe.

The association reiterated its demands, including the inclusion of one ANYA member in the re-verification committee, punishment for officers and brokers found guilty by the initial fact-finding panel, and recovery of funds collected through fraudulent means.

ANYA also called for the prompt release of compensation to genuine land-affected families, publication of the beneficiaries’ list, and immediate handover of the project to the executing agency to ensure timely completion.

Jamru Ruja appealed to all affected families to cooperate fully with the committee to ensure a transparent and credible verification process.

Reaffirming its stand against corruption, ANYA urged the public not to engage in any malpractice or manipulation related to land compensation.

The association warned that it would launch intensified democratic action if any irregularities are detected during the re-verification process, without prior notice.

The issue of alleged corruption in land compensation was initially raised by a social activist and the ANYA East Kameng unit, with support from NGOs and the public.

ANYA expressed gratitude to the public for their continued support and reiterated its commitment to work constructively and lawfully for community welfare.
