Guwahati: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) has asked the Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board (APSSB) to follow the state government’s recently issued eligibility rules for direct recruitment to Group A, B and C posts.
The demand was made in a letter sent to the APSSB Chairman after the Department of Administrative Reforms & Training issued its notification on August 26.
According to AAPSU, the notification gives formal shape to its long-standing demand that direct recruitment candidates must possess a valid Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC), an Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribe (APST) Certificate and proficiency in an Indigenous Tribal Language.
AAPSU said the APSSB conducts many of the recruitment examinations for ministerial and non-gazetted positions in the state. The union wants the board to mention the new conditions in every recruitment advertisement.
The student body has also asked the APSSB to apply the three conditions to recruitment notices that are already pending as well as those that will be issued in the future. It wants the notices to also carry the requirement for an Indigenous Tribal Language test after candidates join service.
AAPSU said it will check recruitment advertisements issued by the board and watch for compliance with the government’s notification.
The union said it would protect the provisions it had secured through its earlier efforts. It cautioned that failure to implement the order, weakening any of its provisions or delaying its application would result in immediate opposition and intensified democratic agitation by the student community.
AAPSU president Meje Taku and general secretary Mato Bui signed the letter.
