Union Minister Kiren Rijiju’s value of immovable assets has gone up from Rs 9.5 lakh in 2014 to a whopping amount of Rs 49 lakh at present.
This was declared in his affidavit filed on the last day of his nominations for the Arunachal West Lok Sabha seat, according to reports.
Rijiju declared that he has acquired immovable assets worth Rs 25 lakh while the remaining assets worth Rs 24 lakh have been inherited.
Apart from the immovable assets, the value of the movable assets of the minister has gone up from Rs 46.55 lakh to Rs 56.48 lakh.
However, as per the affidavit, the value of his wife’s movable assets has decreased from Rs 68.32 lakh to Rs 40.89 lakh.
This time, Rijiju claimed in his affidavit that he does not own any vehicle despite liquidating a car loan on his name when he filed his last affidavit in 2014.
In 2014, he had declared in his affivadit that he owned three cars, two of which were in his wife’s name.
However, those three cars do not find a mention in the affidavit filed by the minister this year.
Rijiju had declared no income and no income tax returns for either himself or his wife last time.
However, this time, he has declared that the his annual income is Rs 6,12,000 and that of his wife is Rs 12,03,467.
Rijiju had completed his graduation from Hansraj College in 1995 and got his law degree from Delhi University in 1998.
BJP leader Kiren Rijiju won the Arunachal West Lok Sabha seat in 2014 parliamentary elections defeating his rival candidate from the Indian National Congress’ Takam Sanjoy by a margin of 43,738 votes.
In the ensuing parliamentary polls to the Arunachal West Lok Sabha constituency, the Indian National Congress (INC) has fielded former Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Nabam Tuki.
