10 new cases push Arunachal’s Covid tally to 158

Ten more people tested positive for Covid-19 in Arunachal Pradesh, taking the state’s overall tally to 158 as of June 23.

The state now has 120 active cases, while 38 patients have recovered from the virus so far.

A total of nine fresh cases were reported from the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) while one was reported from Tawang.

State surveillance officer L Jampa said “out of the nine positive cases of ICR, 2 each have returned from Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal while the others are returnees from Jammu & Kashmir, Bihar, Maharashtra, Assam and Manipur.”

The case from Tawang is a returnee from Delhi.

All 9 cases from ICR are asymptomatic, however, the one from Tawang (a resident of West Kameng) is co-morvid with chronic kidney disease (CKD). He is being referred to Dedicated Covid Health Centre (DHC) in Tomo Riba Institute of Health And Medical Sciences, Naharlagun, Dr Jampa said.

Meanwhile, a total of 16 Covid-19 positive patients have been released from the respective covid care centers there were in on Tuesday after they tested negative in two consecutive reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests.
