The state press fraternity of Arunachal Pradesh deeply mourned the sudden demise of noted journalist Xavier Rusta, who breathed his last on Monday in Kohima of Nagaland, following a stroke.

Late Rusta (42), who started his career in journalism from the Nagaland Post, was serving his second term as the president of the Kohima Press Club.

He was also a senior correspondent for the Times of India.

“The Arunachal Press Club (APC), Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalist (APUWJ) and Arunachal Electronic Media Association (AEMA) shares the pain of the Nagaland press fraternity in losing one of their most important members, and extend our heartfelt condolences to them”, said APUWJ president Amar Sangno on the sidelines of a two-minute silence observed by the state press fraternity in respect of the departed soul at the Arunachal Press Club in Itanagar on Monday.

“The state press fraternity at this juncture would also like to extend its condolences to the bereaved family members of late Rusta. Our words may not give much relief to the grieving family members of late Rusta, but we want to assert that our minds and prayers are with them during this difficult phase of their lives”, he added.

“We also pray to the almighty for eternal peace to the departed soul and strength for the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss”, Sangno said.
