Arunachal Pradesh Governor BD Mishra, on a three-day tour to ‘aspirational district’ Namsai, reached the district headquarters on Monday.
First Lady Neelam Misra accompanied the Governor.
The Governor was briefed by Namsai Deputy Commissioner Dr Tapasya Raghav, Superintendent of Police Singhjatla Singpho and Additional DC Bijoy Talukdar on the ‘aspirational’ aspect of the district as also the projects under ‘Aspirational District’ programme.
The Governor met the Parshuram Kund head priests Hari Charan Das and Om Prakash Giri also known as Swami Prakashnam, at Namsai and shared his proposal for a holistic development of the pilgrimage complex. He said that keeping the Indian culture and traditions undisturbed, Parshuram Kund must be developed in such a manner that it continues to promote spiritualism and age-old values.
“The need of the time is that the aged pilgrims and not so tough women and men can also perform their pooja with convenience and safety so that they can carry back good experience from the pilgrimage,” the Governor said.
Citing stampedes in places of pilgrimage, the Governor suggested an appropriate provision of the holy water in well approachable Kunds and with special care exclusively for women pilgrims. He wanted the Parshuram Kund complex to be developed to facilitate 365 days of pilgrimage with good approach road, hospital facilities, living amenities and neat and hygienic public conveniences.
The Governor stressed that the plan would include the socio-economic development of the local communities as well.
Earlier, at Laipuli Army Brigade headquarters in Tinsukia, the General Officer Commanding, 2 Mountain Division, Dinjan, Major General Gajinder Singh called on the Governor during his brief halt to meet the jawans.
They discussed the security and operational readiness of the formation as also on avenues, where the Indian Army can help in the socio-economic development of the people of Arunachal Pradesh.
