At 2 pm on Sunday, a couple Pema and Kanchi Mosbu were swept away by a flash flood. Personnel of the Army’s Maratha Light Infantry rescued an injured Pema and sent him to the Military Hospital at Dahung, but his wife has remained missing.

Officials said the Border Road Task Force succeeded in restoring the 35 km road from district headquarters Bomdila to Kaspi for vehicular traffic. But it would take weeks for the BCT road to be cleared for vehicles.

Meanwhile, relief materials have been distributed to 17 affected families by ADC Singchung.

Deputy commissioner Sonal Swaroop said that the 14 BRTF would be erecting a Bailey bridge in place of the RCC bridge that was completely washed away on Sunday.

The PHED has hired extra hands to restore the water supply lines in the Kaspi, Singchung and Nag Mandir areas but the restoration of power supply at Kaspi is awaited.

Though police and Sashastra Seema Bal have been engaged in the relief and rescue operations, the administration has requisitioned the services of the NDRF.

ADC Singchung, T Pada along with Circle officers G. Doke and Sange Norbu and EAC (HQ) P Monpa and Superintendent of Police in-charge T Jambey are monitoring the situation at the place of incidence.
