Arunachal Pradesh Power department has declared East Siang as 100 percent electrified district after it has achieved the target under Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana- Saubhagya Scheme being implemented in the state.

According to report, Pasighat Electrical Division fall under Pasighat Electrical Circle-II in East Siang district has achieved power connection to as many as 2,662 household till December 2018, which earlier left uncovered.

The Executive Engineer (Power)/PNO (Saubhagya) of Pasighat Division on December 31 last declared that East Siang district become cent percent electrified and saturated under the central sponsored schemes.

Officials informed that the works of domestic power connection free of costs under the flagship scheme was started in March, 2008.

The division has achieved the target covering a total 71 villages under the district (excluding Pangin sub-division Nari-Koyu). The scheme has covered 29 villages in Ruksin, 23 in Pasighat and 19 in Mebo sub-divisions of East Siang district bordering Assam.

According to officials, the department has almost completed installation of transformers to energize the covered villages, which it has assured to finish remaining works within a period of next seven days.

On the other hand, the power department of the state so far has electrified as many as 1,483 villages under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya-Gram Jyoti Yojana thereby given power connectivity to rural people under the flagship scheme.

Earlier too, Arunachal government implemented power supply scheme under Rajiv Gandhi Gramya Vidyotikaran Yojana.
