Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) celebrated the 150th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi on Tuesday at Rajiv Bhawan in Itanagar, with floral tribute to the portrait of Gandhi, said office secretary Rahul Dutta.
Zenith Sangma, secretary All India Congress Committee (AICC), in charge of Arunachal Pradesh, Takam Sanjoy, president APCC, Markio Tado, MLA, 20-Tali Assembly constituency and all the rank and files of Congress party were present on the occasion.
Zenith Sangma, secretary of AICC, in charge of Arunachal Pradesh in his speech recalled the contributions made by Gandhi in achieving freedom for the country and also his ultimate sacrifice for the cause of peace and non-violence.
He also said that Gandhian philosophy teaches us to maintain peace, communal harmony and universal brotherhood which are keys to development.
He appealed the party workers and people in general to follow the path shown by Gandhi for peace and non-violence in the world.
After the programme, Sangma and Takam Sanjoy, president of APCC flagged-off the Indian National Congress (INC) rally from Rajiv Bhawan in Itanagar to Palin with a delegation of about 2000 members and convoy of more than 200 vehicles, who will attend Mass Indian National Congress rally at Palin on October 3.
