The Arunachal Pradesh state cabinet on Friday approved the Arunachal Pradesh Protection of Medical Service Personnel and Medical Service Institutions (Prevention of violence and damage or loss of Property) Bill 2019 to be tabled in the ensuing budget session starting on July 8 next.

The state cabinet, headed by Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu, sat for a meeting at Itanagar at the Civil Secretariat.

The bill looks to provide protection to medical services personnel and medicare service institutions.

Among other important bills, the Arunachal Pradesh State Higher Education Council Bill 2019, the Arunachal Pradesh Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill 2019, the Arunachal Pradesh Municipal Corporation Bill 2019 and the Arunachal Pradesh Lokayukta (Amendment) Bill 2019 were approved by the cabinet to be tabled in the ensuing Assembly session.

The council of ministers also approved the proposal for granting special remission to prisoners of specific categories and their release in the 2nd of the three phases as part of commemoration of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

While observing that the sports stadiums in the state being used randomly for any other purpose instead of sports activities, the cabinet approved the regulation of use of the stadiums.

In order to encourage sports activities and hone hidden talents of youths in various disciplines, the cabinet approved for creation five posts of coaches in football (2), Wushu (1) and Taekwando (2) in the sports department.

The cabinet was later briefed on the status and way forward for acquisition of land for Joram – Koloriang Road and Potin –Bopi Road.

The cabinet was also informed about the National Green Tribunal’s direction by the forest department. A detail power point presentation was presented on the status of Smart City at Itanagar and Pasighat by the department of urban development.
