Guwahati: Arunachal Pradesh anti-drug activist Gumin Mize and two of his associates have been booked in a fresh case registered at the Women Police Station (WPS) in Itanagar over alleged offences under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

According to police records, the case has been registered as WPS Itanagar Case No. 53/26 under Sections 74, 75(2), 79, 127(2) and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, read with Sections 8 and 12 of the POCSO Act.

The FIR names Gumin Mize along with two individuals stated to be members of the Arunachal Pradesh Anti-Drug Warrior group.

Police documents indicate that the complainant is a 17-year-old girl, bringing the case within the ambit of laws relating to the protection of children from sexual offences.

Authorities have not disclosed the specific nature of the allegations or the progress of the investigation. No official statement detailing the circumstances leading to the registration of the case has been issued so far.

The fresh case comes days after Mize was arrested in connection with an alleged rape case in Arunachal Pradesh‘s East Siang district.

According to East Siang Superintendent of Police Pankaj Lamba, Mize was arrested by personnel of the Pasighat Women Police Station on June 18 as part of the investigation into the alleged rape case. He was produced before a local court, which remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody pending further investigation.

Police said investigations into both cases are currently underway, and further details are expected as the inquiries progress.
