The Pay Back to Society Group (PBSG) programme, an initiative of Governor Brig (Retd) Dr B D Mishra, witnessed a huge participation from the students of Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Ganga, GHSS Arunodaya and GHSS Kankernallah at Naharlagun in Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday.
During the interactive session, officers from the armed forces briefed about the various avenues of joining the armed forces. They said that one gets to serve the nation in various capacities, which provides a sense of contentment to an individual.
The team of officers also briefed about the objectives of the mission to the students.
At GHSS Arunodaya, Col Hemanto Panging outlined the three principles for success – to aim high in life, to work hard and to keep one away from negativity in life. He also urged the students to utilize the opportunity as the programme has been specially designed for them to interact directly with the armed forces officers of the State.
Terming Arunachalees as adventurous and fun-loving, Capt Ligang Sera said that one of the perks of the job is getting an opportunity to try various adventurous activities along with job security, financial stability, status, etc.
Lt Cdr Rige Bagra said that Arunachalees already have gifted ability to excel in any field and the need of the hour is to guide them on how to go about it.
At GHSS Ganga, the team was led by Maj T C Tayum and Lt Cdr Ronie Chowpoo and at GHSS Kankernallah the team was led by Maj Togum Rime, Lt Singpho and Flt Lt Shimon Doke.
During the interaction sessions, the officers highlighted the importance of the role of parents and teachers in shaping a child’s future and urged the students to always respect their parents and teachers.
The officers also shared their phone numbers and asked the students to call them whenever they need any kind of guidance to join the armed forces.
The officers shared stories about their journey and advised the students to persevere in their aspirations. They said how despite being from a humble background in small villages, they overcame all the odds to serve the nation.
Later, a video on Late Havaldar Hangpan Dada was also screened. The officers also replied to various queries of the students.
The CO Itanagar Likha Radh and DDSE Capital Complex Mallo Yam Gollo along with the faculties attended the session.
At Yupia: The PBSG team led by Indian Air Force’s retired Group Captain Mohanto Panging Pao, Indian Navy Sergeant Commander Dr Marak Pertin and Indian Army Major Ponung Doming also addressed students and teachers at the Panchayat Conference Hall here on Saturday.
Group Captain Panging Pao briefed about the objective of the PBSG mission organised by the Arunachalee armed forces commissioned officers and said: “We are here to motivate and to create awareness among youths about a career in armed forces. The future lies in you all and we want to see more of you in the armed forces.”
Dr Pertin informed the students about a career in the Indian Navy. Exhorting the young minds, he said: “Nothing is impossible; keep yourself mentally tough and have a dream to become a better person in the society. To serve the motherland and to live a life of respect and honour, you should join the armed forces.”
