At a time when Rongali Bihu is being celebrated across Assam, the artistes of Rajashree Theatre, headquartered at Mukalmua in Nalbari district, have faced major financial crisis as the producer of the group has allegedly not cleared their pending dues.

In a bizarre incident, actors Tapan Das, Jupitora Bhuyan and other artistes of Rajashree Theatre, a mobile theatre group in Assam, have allegedly been deprived of their dues by the authorities of the theatre group.

As per media reports, Tapan Das and Jupitora Bhuyan signed with the Rajashree Theatre for the season 2017-18. But as alleged by the artistes and other staff members, the producer of the theatre group is yet to pay them a total of Rs 46 lakh. The producer, Jatin Thakuria, who delayed the payment by promising to clear the same within a short period, has reportedly fled leaving the artistes and staff members of the theatre group at a loss.

As per the latest report, many of the artistes and staff members of the theatre group have still been waiting in the rehearsal hall of Rajashree Theatre at Mukalmua in Nalbari district without having food with a hope that a solution would come out.

On the other hand, an artiste who worked in the theatre also reportedly made an attempt to commit suicide due to non-payment of dues.

The artistes have alleged that Barnali Deka, the proprietor of the theatre group, is also involved in the conspiracy.

The artistes have informed that Barnali Deka had been giving promises on behalf of the producer to clear their dues.

A section of the conscious citizens have condemned the act of the producer of Rajashree Theatre group for deceiving the artistes during Rongali Bihu.
