Arambai Tenggol bans election campaigns in Manipur.

Imphal: Arambai Tenggol (AT), a Meitei socio-cultural organization on Saturday announced its restriction on the election campaigns in Manipur which will go to the two-phase Lok Sabha elections on April 19 and April 29.

All forms of election campaigns indulging in extravaganza have been banned in the state, a statement signed by Saishram Robertson, Arambai Tenggol Control Room Operation stated on Saturday.

The loudspeakers or sound amplifiers installed at public places as parts of the election campaigns causing noise pollution have been prohibited ahead of the elections in the state, it said.

The AT also directed the political parties and candidates to stop hoisting the party/candidate flags, a traditional royal-era ritual starting the election campaigns in Manipur.

It also directed the political parties and candidates to refrain from conducting door-to-door campaigns, political meetings, and taking out rallies

Further, it also informed the voters not to indulge in grand feasts after taking money from the candidates in the name of election campaigns.

Manipur has two Lok Sabha seats —Outer Manipur Parliamentary constituency reserved for scheduled tribes and Inner Manipur PC.
