Ghosh, who was earlier posted as Kamrup (metro) district transport officer (enforcement), was transferred as Sonitpur DTO on March 11 after his name cropped up in the scam.
Dispur MLA Atul Bora demanded his removal, alleging his role in the scam.
Bora told reporters that he had written to chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal about Ghosh’s “involvement” in the illegal collection of a huge amount of money from overloaded coal trucks, causing loss of revenue to the state exchequer.
