Dibrugarh police on Saturday raided the residence of arrested APS officer Kaushik Kalita in connection with the APSC cash-for-job scam.
A team of Dibrugarh police led by ASP Surjit Singh Paneswar raided the house of Kalita, who is serving as deputy superintendent of police (DSP) of 26 IRBN of South Salmara, at Lakhimi Nagar in Guwahati.
Sources said police have seized some important documents from his residence during the raid.
DSP Kalita was arrested by Dibrugarh on Wednesday along with five other officials in connection with the recruitment scam.
The five other arrested officials were Rituraj Gogoi, the revenue circle officer of Dhakuakhana, Satyajit Sarkar, the assistant employment officer of Majuli, Abhishek Borbora, the inspector of excise, Rangiya, Barnali Devi, the inspector of tax in Nalbari and Joydev Mahanta, the circle officer of Bajali.
With this, the total number of officials arrested in the scam has gone up to 35. Police said during the investigation some sensational information have come to light regarding the recruitment of DSP Kalita.
According to a police official investigations have revealed that the APSC examination answer script of Kalita was written by his wife Rupa Kalita.
The Dibrugarh Police on Saturday questioned Rupa at Panbazar Women police station in this connection and she is likely to be arrested soon.
