Dima Hasao will observe Anti-leprosy fortnight named as Sparsh Leprosy awareness campaign from January 30 to make India a Leprosy free country in commemoration with Death Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
A meeting was held on anti-leprosy fortnight at the office of Jt Director of Health and Family Welfare at Haflong on Friday.

During the meeting, various leprosy eradication programmes laid by the government of India were discussed. A discussion was also held on programmes for observance of the Anti-Leprosy Fortnight involving other departments including district administration, social welfare, education department, block development offices, PHE department, NHM workers, village president, NGOs, clubs, social organisations etc.
The objective of the fortnight is to spread awareness on leprosy and to create of sensitiveness towards the patients and equip people to tackle by adopting remedial measures for the deathly disease in time.
Principal Secretary of NC Hills Autonomous Council TT Daulagupu appealed to all to maintain co-operation in executing the programme of Anti-leprosy fortnight so that the district may remain Leprosy free.

He also stressed upon all the government departments to circulate the messages on Anti-leprosy fortnight programme along with their mandatory duties so that no one will be deprived of free treatment offered by the government to all the health care units of the government.
