Along with other parts of the State, the parental lineage verification proceedings started from Saturday in Kamrup Metropolitan District for error free NRC.
A total 17419 proceedings are to be held under the district, covering all five revenue circles.

The Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup (Metro), Dr M Angamuthu visited two NRC Seva Kendras at Uzanbazar and the model Seva Kendra at Bamunimaidam; both under Guwahati Revenue Circle to see the proceeding along with Additional Deputy Commissioner Kshitish Chandra Pegu and Damodar Barman, Circle Officer, Guwahati Revenue Circle.
He interacted with the public who turned up at the NRC Seva Kendra for the hearing. He also instructed all the officials present in the centres and gave instruction to take all necessary steps to successfully complete the whole family tree investigation process. He also assured for any logistical and technical help which they may require.
This family tree verification is an error correction process. Here those people are being called through a letter in intimation for the proceedings for which there is mismatch found among names of the descendants of a legacy person. The process of this Type-I proceedings will be over by March 31 next, starting from Saturday on all week days.

For Kamrup Metro, the venues of the proceedings are the NRC Seva Kandras which are 78 in numbers.
From February 19, per day there will be five proceedings per Kendra for the first week.
So there will be all total 390 proceedings from this Monday. It is worth mentioning that all total 104 investigating officers deployed in Kamrup Metro to take the proceedings.
Moreover, there are a total of 22 districts magistrates as authorized officers to vet on the investigating officers’ decision and take the final call on each proceeding.
