The Tobu and Mopong units of the Konyak Union at a consultative meeting on Thursday decided not to cooperate with the group involved in the May 25 ambush on Assam Rifles.
A convoy of the Assam Rifles was attacked by suspected NSCN (K) militants at a place between Changlangshu and Ukha village under the Tobu sub-division in Mon district of Nagaland.
It has been suspected that the Yung Aung-led faction of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Khaplang) carried out the attack at Changlangshu village, around 20 km from Tobu.
Two Assam Rifles jawans were killed and four injured in the attack.
The meeting, held at the residence of president of Konyak Union (B) Tobu, S.A. Ngamlao, directed all the village councils under the jurisdiction of the two units to comply with the resolution.
The Konyak Union office-bearers and advisory board members of both the units were present at the meeting, Konyak Union (B) president S.A. Ngamlao and Konyak Union (B) Yangkon said in a joint release.
A rally was taken out at Tobu town in Mon district of Nagaland on Tuesday to protest against the ambush on an Assam Rifles convoy on May 25 and appeal for peace.
The attack has created an atmosphere of insecurity in the area.
The protest rally was joined by over 1000 people, including students and women, affirmed the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation’s (ENPO) declaration of peace zone in its jurisdiction on December 12, 2007.
