Four days ahead of his visit to Northeast, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday underwent a minor surgery on Wednesday in his neck.

Media reports quoted party source as saying that Shah, who is also the BJP president, underwent the surgery to remove a ‘lipoma on the back of his neck’ at a private hospital in Ahmedabad.

The BJP’s central media department said Shah was later discharged from the hospital.

Union Home Minister Shah will arrive at Guwahati to attend the plenary session of the North Eastern Council (NEC) to be held on September 8 & 9.

He is also scheduled to meet the Chief Ministers and Governors of the Northeast during his two-day visit to the region.

As per media reports, the local BJP leaders earlier claimed that the Union Home Minister had visit KD Hospital in Ahmedabad for undergoing some health check-up.

But later the party’s central media cell issued a statement confirming that Shah had undergone a minor surgery.

Media reports quoted the party statement as saying: “Shah was admitted to KD Hospital in Ahmedabad at around 9 am.”

“He was successfully operated for lipoma at the back side of neck under local anesthesia. After the minor surgery, he has been discharged,” it added.

Sources said, he was discharged at around 12.30 pm.

After his discharge, party leaders thronged his residence at SG Highway in Ahmedabad to meet him.
