Agartala-Bengaluru Hamsafar Express derails entering Assam, no casualty

Passengers had a providential escape as the Agartala-Bengaluru Hamsafar Exprees got derailed as it entered Assam close to the Tripura border at about 8:15 am on Tuesday even as there is no information about any causality.

The express train was derailed by two wheels on the Sarjul bridge between Churaibari and Kalkalighat at KM 26/6-5.

A passenger expressed that at that very moment as the train was moving very slowly so nothing much happened but if the speed would have been more it would have be dangerous resulting in casualties.

Senior divisional officers are already at the site and cause of derailment is under investigation though till now the officials have not divulged anything.

Meanwhile, an accident relief train has reached the site from Badarpur.

Safety and Engineering officers under AGM have left for site from headquarters.

Work of rerailment has already begun even as the train has been taken back to Churaibari and all needs of passengers are being attended to.
