While the Nagaland Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers’ Association (NRMSATA) – 2016 batch has called off its ongoing stir with immediate effect, the All Nagaland Ad hoc Teachers’ Group, 2015 batch (ANATG-2015) has rejected enhancement of fixed pay of ad hoc teachers sans regularisation of their services.

The RMSTA called off its agitation after the school education department agreed to look into their demands in all fairness at a meeting in Kohima on Thursday.

In a release on Friday, president of the association Sao Venuh and general secretary Haisoliabe Ndang said the department sought time to cross examine their demands for arriving at a proper decision and allowing the teachers to respond accordingly.

The association directed the teachers to resume their normal duties at the earliest until a conclusion was drawn from the responses given by the department.

In a memorandum to the department, the ANATG-2015 accused the state government of enforcing the decision without taking into consideration their primary demand for service regularization.

Pointing out that the government had already granted pay scales to graduate teachers (GTs) and primary teachers (PTs) appointed from July 1, 2017 through an order dated October 13, 2017, the ANATG termed enhancing the meagre fixed salary of GTs and PTs as an injustice to the teachers who had been serving prior to December 31, 2012 for Rs 8,400 (GTs) and Rs 6,700 (PTs) per month respectively.

It clarified that 1,166 ad hoc teachers had appeared for the suitability test for regularisation and not for doubling their fixed salary or for scale of pay. Thus, the group said its primary demand was regularisation of services.
