Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has awarded five young entrepreneurs from Northeast with National Entrepreneurship Awards 2018 in New Delhi.
The awardees are Tana Sumpa, Dulu Moni Kalita, Rahul Baruah & Anupam Nath, Vanramhlimpuii and Maipaksana Rajkumar.
They were honoured at Dr Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi on Friday for their exceptional contribution towards nation building through entrepreneurship.
The awards were conferred in the presence of Suresh Prabhu, Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation; Anant Kumar Hegde, Minister of State for Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE); and Dr KP Krishnan, Secretary, MSDE & Jyotsna Sitling, Joint Secretary, MSDE.
Each awardee received a cash price of Rs. 5, 00,000, a certificate and a trophy.
35-year-old Tana from Arunachal Pradesh is successfully running piggery farms and fisheries and Dulu Moni, 28, from Assam’s Darang district, is successfully running her venture Moni Handicraft Centre.
Rahul & Anupam from Assam are the founders of www.getkraft.in– an e-commerce platform dedicated to connecting the artisan from various areas of Northeast India
Vanramhlimpuii, 32, from Mizoram is the founder of M/s Zonu Meat Processing.
38-year-old Maipaksana from Manipur has indigenously designed & developed trolleys for lifting LPG cylinders and other heavy objects.
For the first time in 2018 IIT Guwahati –Technology Incubation Centre’ (IITG-TIC) was appointed as the regional partner institute, with headship of Konjengbam.
Darunkumar Singh & Himujjall Sarmah, Regional Programme Coordinator, IIT Guwahati team has done massive exercise to reach out every possible corners of Northeast states, in a very short time, to promote & encourage young generation entrepreneurs to participate in the NEA Programme.
