The Divisional Commissioner of North Assam Division, Tezpur, M Angamuthu, visited Udalguri district on Friday to review the National Register of Citizens (NRC) update process as well as to review the prevailing law and order situation in the district.
A meeting to this effect was also held where Divisional Commissioner Angamuthu interacted with the Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, Additional Deputy Commissioner and Circle officers of all the revenue circles of the district in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office at Udalguri.

Deputy Commissioner, Udalguri, Dilip Kumar Das briefed about the activities currently underway in connection with the NRC update. He informed that the process of inspection of the draft NRC by the public is underway and the Information Education Commission(IEC) activities are being carried out to allay apprehensions from the minds of the public, particularly those whose names have not been included in the draft NRC.
He also added that law and order situation in the district has remained peaceful and elaborate security arrangement has been made to take care of the security aspect of the citizens.
Divisional Commissioner Angamuthu expressed satisfaction over the quality of draft NRC in the district.

He exhorted the officials of the district administration to engage themselves with the public and continue with the IEC activities.
Angamuthu also asked the officers to remain alert so that no misinformation campaign of any type in regard to NRC
update takes place.
The Divisional Commissioner appreciated the efforts of the officers and staff members engaged in the NRC update process and appealed to work wholeheartedly in the next phases of the process. Superintendent of Police, Udalguri, Rajveer Singh briefed the Divisional Commissioner about the deployment of security forces in the district for maintenance of law and order, and thwart nefarious attempts of ill forces.
