Gurmeet Singh has recently taken over as the Director (Marketing), Indian Oil – the country’s largest commercial enterprise and the top-ranked Indian corporate in Fortune’s ‘Global 500’ listing.
Prior to his elevation, Singh was serving as the Executive Director and handled the complex and dynamic LPG vertical at Indian Oil’s Marketing Division Headquarters in Mumbai.

A Mechanical Engineer, Singh joined Indian Oil in 1983 as a management trainee. Singh has handled a variety of portfolios including varied assignments in Project Management, Engineering, Retail Sales and LPG. He brings to the board his expertise as a business head of four geographically and culturally diverse and complex states – viz. Punjab, J&K, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan.
As State-in-Charge of Indian Oil’s two largest State offices, he was responsible for overseeing all POL business including retail, direct sales, LPG, lube sales, operations, project management, planning, HRD, and Information Technology. A hardcore marketing professional, he was responsible for expanding the retail network and increased market share in both assignments.
As an authority on LPG, Singh has handled production and marketing aspects of the LPG Business at field and regional levels in various capacities.

He has been instrumental in spearheading various LPG business initiatives across India, including the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana which has not only transformed the lives of women in rural India, but led to a revolution in Indian kitchens.
