The first round training for the presiding officer, 1st polling officer, 2nd polling officer, 3rd polling officer, additional polling officer for VVPAT, IV Grade staff was held at Kohima College auditorium on Monday.

The 1st round for the 2nd and 3rd polling officer will also be held on May 15 and the 2nd round training for the presiding officer, 1st polling officer, 2nd polling officer, 3rd polling officer, additional polling officer for VVPAT will be held on May 19, followed by a 3rd round on May 22 for presiding officer, 1st polling officer, additional polling officer for VVPAT and 2nd polling and 3rd polling officer on May 23 at the same venue respectively.

Speaking at the meeting, Kohima Deputy Commissioner and district election officer Rajesh Soundararajan directed all the polling personnel detailed for election duty to attend the training and cautioned that necessary action will be taken against the absentees as per the Representation of the People’s Act 1950 and Conduct of Election Rules 1961.

He also directed all the officials concerned who had applied for exemption from election duty on medical ground to appear before the medical board at Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) on May 16 at 10 am. He said no further application in this connection will be accepted after the due date.

Jakhama SDO (C) Alemyabang spoke on the election duty certificate (EDC) for the service voters and said the certificate will be available to those service voters who are enrolled in Kohima district electoral roll only.

He informed that the documents required for EDC are duty detailment slip, one xerox copy of service identity card and epic card issued by the department concerned. The SDO further said in order to avail the EDC one has to fill up the form No. 12 A and submit it on May 18.

Project officer, labour department and master trainer Chubayanger briefed about the roles and functions of each officer entrusted for election duty. He said EDC is used for casting votes of those officials who are engaged in election duties.
