All the 27 towns of Manipur will be open defecation free (ODF) by November this year.

So far 24 towns in the State have achieved ODF.

This was disclosed by Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh while highlighting the achievements and completion of various projects including centrally sponsored schemes on the occasion of successful completion of four years of Narendra Modi government under the banner ‘Vishesh Samprak Abhiyan’ at BJP state unit office in Imphal.

However he admitted that his government is trying hard to achieve the target of announcing ODF in all the 14 districts.

So far only two districts have been declared ODF in the State.

They are Bishnupur and Senapati districts.

Under Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban), 8032 household latrines have been constructed out of 30,209 applications so far, he added.

Stating that after Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister of the country, many changes took place in the country.

Biren said the state government has completed construction of many long pending demands including Imphal-Jiribam highway.

He also informed that the helicopter service in the State will be launched from the first week of June next.

State BJP unit president and Rajya Sabha MP Kh Bhabananda also highlighted a number of development programmes taken up during Prime Minister Modi’s regime.

Many landmark decisions such as demonetization, surgical strike and GST were taken in his regime and relationship between the global countries including the neighbours have also been improved tremendously during the last four years, Bhabananda said.

BJP state unit leaders also attended in the day’s ‘Vishesh Samprak Abhiyan’ observation.

Currently 20 Indian states is ruled by BJP alliance governments.

On the other hand opposition, the Congress party staged a sit-in demonstration against the four years rule of Modi government at the Centre under the nation-wide protest of ‘Vishwaghat Diwas’ in Imphal.

The sit-in protest of the Congress party was held under the aegis of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) in front of Congress Bhavan in Imphal while BJP observed Vishesh Samprak Abhiyan at its state unit office.
