MIFF 2018

A total of 18 films from eight Northeast states participated in the Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) this year. In the film festival, Northeast region also paid homage to late Altaf Mazid.

Manipur’s Bobo Khuraijam won the Best Film Award in the under 60-minute documentary category for his film Ima Sabitri

Two Assamese directors’ Jahnu Barua and Sanjeev Parashar’s films were also selected in the competition section. These two films were Jahnu Barua’s short fiction The Gutsy Morning and Parashar’s Living the Natural Way.

Two National Award-winning film directors of the region Manipur’s Haobam Pabankumar was jury of the international competition section and Assam’s Prabin Hazarika was the jury in the national selection panel.

The North East Package in the MIFF started in 2006 and Guwahati-based journalist Samudra Gupta Kashyap was its curator.
