Agartala: The Tripura State Election Commission (SEC) announced the final voter list for the upcoming Panchayat Polls on Monday, with a total of 12,94,060 voters set to cast their votes. The election date is expected to be revealed in the first week of July.

Tripura State Election Commissioner Saradindu Chowdhury addressed reporters, stating that the current Panchayat term ends in the first week of August, and the SEC is prepared for the elections following the release of the final voter list.

“The final publication of the voter list for the Panchayat Poll was completed today. According to the list, there are 12,94,060 voters, including 6,58,589 males, 6,35,460 females, and 11 in other categories,” Chowdhury said.

The State Election Commissioner added that claims and objections to the voter list were considered.

“We received 2,056 claims in various blocks, 2,837 objections, and one correction request. After addressing these issues, the final voter list has been published. We are almost ready for the Panchayat poll and hope to conduct it at an appropriate time. Meetings with the Director General (DG) and Chief Secretary (CS) on law and order, as well as with all political parties regarding the elections, are planned. We anticipate announcing the election date by the first week of July,” he told reporters.

Chowdhury also noted that the elections will be held for 6,370 seats in Gram Panchayats, 423 seats in Panchayat Samitis, and 116 seats in Zila Parishads, with 2,650 polling stations finalized across 35 rural development blocks.
