In a shocking incident, an 11-year-old minor girl was allegedly gang-raped and burnt to death on Friday afternoon by a group of three men in central Assam’s Nagaon district.
Police officials said the student of class V was allegedly gang-raped by three miscreants at her own house at Dhaniabheti Lalung Gaon under Batadraba police station the district.
Police said the three miscreants entered her house when she was alone at home and allegedly gang-raped the minor.
After raping the girl, the miscreants splashed kerosene on her body and burnt her to death .
The victim was first admitted to Nagaon Civil Hospital and later shifted to Guwahati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) in a critical condition. The minor succumbed to her burn injuries at around 11 pm at GMCH.
Family members of the victim alleged that three miscreants identified as Jakir Hussain, Rahul and Amdalul are involved in the incident.
Based on the complaint of the family members of the minor, police have registered a case and arrested two accused persons–Rahul and Amdalul. Prime accused Jakir is still absconding.
Nagaon Superintendent of Police (SP) Shankar Brata Raimedhi said police are investigating into the incident and all the culprits would be arrested soon.
