Police have neutralised in controlled explosions two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) reportedly planted by a young man at a shopping mall at Badda in Dhaka, the national capital of Bangladesh.

A report published by bdnews24.com, witnesses said a young man fled after placing a bag on the staircase of Tanha Plaza at the Gudaraghat on Gulshan-Badda Link Road around 12 pm on Monday.

The report also mentioned that before fleeing, the man told the people in the area that there were bombs in the bag, the witnesses said.

After being informed, a bomb disposal unit of the police immediately rushed to the spot and found two IEDs.

Badda Police Station Inspector Nazrul Islam told bdnews24.com that they first thought it was a prank, but the bomb disposal unit later confirmed that there were indeed bombs in that bag placed by the man.

Police officer Islam also reportedly said that the IEDs were neutralised at the spot at around 5 pm.

The police officer further said that they would check CCTV camera footage in the area so that they can identify the man who had planted the bombs in the area, the report added.
