Two idols that had gone missing from Nepal in the 80s have been brought back to the country from the United States of America, The Kathmandu Post reports.
An idol of Uma Maheshwor that had gone missing from Tangahiti in Patan since 1980 and another 12th-13th century idol of Gautam Buddha that had gone missing from Etkha, Kathmandu since 1986, were brought back to Nepal from New York-based Metropolitan Museum.

The Department of Archaeology on Wednesday showcased the returned idols before the media. Director General of Department of Archaeology Bhesh Narayan Dahal said the department is coordinating to bring back other missing idols.
The New York Metropolitan Museum had removed the idols from their display after being informed that the idols were stolen from Nepal and smuggled to the USA.
