Nepal’s Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun has been elected unopposed for a second term on Saturday as he was the only candidate to file nomination for the post, The Kathmandu Post reports.

The official announcement, however, will be made only on Sunday.

According to Post reports, the main opposition Nepali Congress, who had fielded Kumari Laxmi Rai against Bidhya Devi Bhandari during the presidential election, did not pitch any candidate for the election to the post of Vice-President.

Earlier, incumbent President Bidya Devi Bhandari was elected for a second term on Tuesday.

She defeated NC’s Kumari Laxmi Rai to become the President.

Of 52,501 votes by weightage President Bhandari secured 39,275 votes while Rai got 11,730 votes.
