Nepal’s Province 2 chief Ratneshwor Lal Kayastha asked organizers to stop playing Indian national anthem at a public programme attended by people from both Nepal and India at Rajbiraj in Saptari on Saturday.
Kayastha had gone to take part in the Golden Jubilee ceremony of Chitragupth Sewa Samiti, an indigenous committee of Kayasthas’ on Saturday. The programme was also attended by seniors of Kayastha indigenous group from both India and Nepal.

After knowing that both Indian and Nepali anthem were to be played during the programme, Kayastha expressed his dissatisfaction and asked the organizers not to allow playing Indian anthem on Nepal’s soil.
Kayastha’s personal aide Mohammad Yousuf also asked the organizers to remove the Indian anthem saying it would be inappropriate to play Indian anthem at a programme in Nepal that was attended by high-level officials of constitutional organs.
Following the diktat of Kayastha, the organisers only played Nepali anthem in the programme.
