All medical services except emergency have been shutdown in hospitals across Nepal including its capital Kathmandu on Thursday.

According to the Kathmandu Post report the Nepal Medical Association on Wednesday had called for shutting down hospital services on Thursday saying that the government was indifferent towards the demands put forth by Dr Govinda KC and in saving his life.

People who had arrived at out-patient departments of various hospitals for treatment returned as there were no medical staffs present.

Bir Hospital, Maharajgunj-based Teaching Hospital and Kanti Children’s Hospital among others shutdown their OPD services from early Thursday morning. However, OPD services remained open at Teku Hospital.

It is learnt that private hospitals are partially running their OPD services.
