Nepal Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Thursday affirmed that his country would not allow an inch of its territory to be encroached by India.

According to The Kathmandu Post, Prime Minister Deuba assured two students’ unions in this regard.

Two students’ unions have submitted a report after conducting a field inspection of land which had fallen into Indian side during recent position marking in Chhapkaiya area of Birgunj in Parsa district.

Students from CPN-UML aligned All Nepal National Free Student Union (ANNFSU) and CPN (Maoist Centre) aligned All Nepal National Independent Student Union (ANNISU)–Revolutionary reached PM’s residence in Baluwatar on Thursday.

The unions had earlier visited the bordering Chhapkaiya area of Birgunj for an onsite inspection of the land that has fallen into Indian territory following a recent position marking by Nepal-India joint survey team for new subsidiary boundary pillars.

ANNISU–Revolutionary Vice Chairperson Bijay Gautam said the report was prepared after a detailed study of the maps of the two countries and discussion with the locals. He said they have also included some suggestions in the report.

The report said Indian side had built physical structures in the Dashgaja area and neglected the Nepali side during the mapping process.

Fifty bighas of Nepali land has fallen into Indian territory after a Nepal-India joint survey team marked the positions for new subsidiary boundary pillars between main border posts 391 and 392 in Chhapkaiya area.
