Guwahati: In a tragic incident, a Saurya Airlines aircraft crashed while taking off from the Tribhuvan International Airport in Nepal’s Kathmandu on Wednesday, The Kathmandu Post reported.
According to reports, 19 people, including aircrew, were aboard the Pokhara-bound plane which met with the accident at around 11 am, said Premnath Thakur, TIA spokesperson, the report added.

Presently, the police and firefighters are carrying out rescue operations at the accident site.
The exact reason for the accident and casualties are still unknown.
Reports are coming in that five bodies have been recovered from the crash site so far.

Captain Manish Shakya (37), the pilot of the plane, has been rescued and sent to a hospital in Sinamangal.
The ill-fated Saurya Arlines flight 9N-AME, a Mitsubishi CRJ-200ER, was carrying a few technical staffers as well, reported The Himalayan Times.
