A friendship volleyball match between Moreh Battalion and Myanmar Army was organized by 26 Sector Assam Rifles unit in Manipur on Sunday.
The aim of the friendly match was to instill and strengthen a spirit of healthy and friendly relations between Indian Army and Myanmar Army, Assam Rifles (south) public relations officer said is a press release issued late at night.

The match was followed by a joint meeting in which issues related to security and border management were discussed. Both sides agreed to continue the joint coordination achieved by means of regular interaction. The attendees expressed their satisfaction on the progress made in ensuring peace and tranquility along the porous Indo-Myanmar Border, the release stated.
In another development, the Shangshak Battalion of 10 Sector Assam Rifles organized a security meeting at Litan in Ukhrul district on Sunday. The meeting was attended by village headmen from 16 villages, village secretaries, local activists and Youth Club presidents, the release added.
Security issues of the area in view of forthcoming Lok Sabha elections and other ongoing activities were discussed by Litan Company Commander of Shangshak Assam Rifles who chaired the meeting.

Other issues pertaining to youth engagement, healthcare, recruitment drive and women empowerment, smuggling of opium and IED threat were also part of the agenda. The representatives of various villages assured all possible support to Assam Rifles in ensuring a positive secure environment.
