In his Twitter handle on Thursday, Tobgay stated that he offered prayers in Shivalaya Mandir, which is a beautiful temple in Bhutan, for the king, the country and the people of the nation

Tobgay tweeted: “Offered prayers for King, Country and People at Samtse’s beautiful Shivalaya Mandir this morning.”

In a major upset verdict in the first round of polls in Bhutan, Tobgay’s PDP was ousted from the race, and will not run in the second and final round next month. Instead, the Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa (DNT) headed by Dr Lotay Tshering, and the Druk Phuensum Tshogpa (DPT) will face off on October 18. The DNT won the highest number of votes.

However, PDP president Tobgay, who has met his party members in different parts of the country so that they don’t feel discouraged after the defeat in the polls, said though they have been defeated in the parliamentary polls of the country recently, they have not lost their spirit.

“We have lost the elections, but not our spirit!” – Mon Bahadur Chhetri echoes the sentiments of the entire PDP family. Had a lovely time in Samtse interacting with fellow PDP members,” tweeted the former Bhutan PM.

Bhutan will witness a close fight between one of its oldest political parties – Druk Phuensum Tshogpa (DPT) – and Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa (DNT), a new party that has gained popularity in the recent past in the second and final round of parliamentary polls on October 18, 2018.

Tobgay, who turned 53 on September 18, 2018, celebrated his birthday among thousands of people at Thimphu, the national capital of Bhutan.
